Turn of the 20th Century Rockland. A perfect blend of a budding metropolis with the air of a small town in its neighborhoods. Meet Madeline: a keen eye, a curious mind, and a spunky spirit combine to help her see things that others miss. Join her in the series debut with Sweet on You.
Madeline lives a normal life, in a normal town, with normal, everyday trials and triumphs–that is until she discovers she has a knack for seeing what others miss. Though it begins as a simple–unasked for, of course–favor for a friend, soon the whole town is talking about the Mayor’s daughter and her unconventional hobby. Her friends are torn between pride in her keen eye and readiness to help and the discomfort of knowing that some people don’t appreciate Madeline’s “meddling.”
From unsuitable suitors, to exciting electrical schemes, to a letter that has her wondering what is happening on a friend’s honeymoon, Madeline finds herself elbow-deep in other peoples’ business. However, in her bowler hat, or one of the millinery frights her aunt foists on her, she’s likely to discover the truth behind that which others might prefer to hide!
Yes, Madeline Brown is developing a reputation for her “meddling,” but what’s a girl to do when she sees things that just don’t seem right? So, in Sweet on You, with her friends and family watching in horror, she braves the worst of Rockland’s streets to uncover the truth about a man and his designs on her friend. Are her suspicions unfounded? Is she risking her reputation, not to mention that of her father, to unearth the truth that her friend’s “special friend” is exactly who he seems to be, or are her instincts correct. And what is she supposed to do when an obnoxious boy from childhood arrives all grown up and seemingly over his boyish know-it-all-ness? Watch out, Madeline, or someone will be sweet on you, too!
