Using story to connect YOU to the Master Storyteller

The Obnoxious Reason This Post Has a Pathetic Title.

by Chautona Havig · 1 Comment

I’ve learned something through this blog series about my awesome launch team. I surround myself with amazing encouragers. These women are honest, don’t get me wrong. But they’re on the team because they like what I do, and apparently because I found gals who know how to make me want to keep going with their constant streams of encouragement.

Today’s team member is no different. Hailing from the deep south, Lori has been such an integral part of the team, I had no idea she was such a newcomer—just a year with us! Wow!

The Obnoxious Reason This Post Has a Pathetic Title.

Meet: Lori!

Now, Lori didn’t tell us much about herself, but I believe she’s a tax gal (as was another of our members) or CPA or something, so tax season gets a bit rough for her to join in, but she’s always interacting. On social media, all her pictures have beaming smiles. I just know I’d love hanging out with her.

About her spare time… you know, when not tallying up deductions and expenses, Lori says:

My spare time-I love to read, take pictures, read, spend time with my family, travel, and read while I travel!!

And about travel she added:

I have been able to travel a lot but the coolest to me probably has to be Paris-I loved it! (Although Niagara Falls always takes my breath away!)

Me, I’ve never been to either, but #3 daughter has. She loved it! And if I could choose which place to go, Niagara would win without a contest!

When she said:

I’m thankful for the creativity God gave you to write and the ability and imagination God gave to me get lost in books!

I kind of figured out why she joined the team, her:

I chose to join the team to get to know you and help however I can and be able to read your books!

…made that crystal clear in case there was ANY doubt. Hee hee.

Like we said, she joined back with the…

Ante Up! Launch. Then I helped you with Front Window and Christmas stalkings and Christmas Embers. (So how many have you had since then?)

I also did some memes for you on a few books and had fun finding quotes for you to use! I have loved your books and never thought in a million years we would come in contact and get to “know” each other through social media!

Of course, like all my team, she has a lot of favorite authors including:

Karen Kingsbury and Wanda Brunstetter and Janette Oake just to name a few!

But she wasn’t exactly helpful with the whole “Which book are you most looking forward to?” question.

She said:

Which of your books am I NOT looking forward to? With each one I finish, I can’t wait for another one to follow!!

Well, one can at least hope this means she’ll be sticking around for a long time.

But, she definitely took sides! Her answers?

Alexa or Madeline: Alexa
Mac or Luke? Luke
Keith or Joe? Joe
Kaye or Cassie? Cassie  (okay, that threw me.  Lori’s a decluttering FOOL… fiend!)
Wynnewood or Legends of the Vengeance? Wynnewood

Lori is a curious gal, though. She asked:

If you couldn’t be an author what would you dream of doing?!

I think I’d want to be a publicist. (Ashley is cracking up now). No, seriously. I LOVE helping authors. One thing I’m most passionate about is helping authors get their books in front of the eyeballs that are searching for just that kind of book. I’d love promoting other people’s work. It would be FABULOUS

Well, that’s Lori… she’s seriously a lot of fun and keeps our conversations lively. I don’t know what we’d do without her (okay, so that’s true of everyone, but hey. This is her turn), but it sounds like I don’t have to find out. She sounds like she’ll be sticking around for a while.

So, if y’all (throwing southern lingo in there to endear her to us even more) would pray that I manage not to offend her, that’d be fabulously appreciated.

And stay tuned. Rebekah is up next in the Meet the Launch Team series for the release of Will Not See! Squeee!

P.S. For the curious:

Lori is not the obnoxious reason this post has a pathetic title. It’s because my brain couldn’t come up with anything that wasn’t… yeah. Pathetic. I mean, “Meet Lori from the Launch Team” is rather boring. And that means I’m bored. And if I’m bored, I don’t want to write. So…

One obnoxious title to amuse me into finishing. Done. See you later with the deets on Rebekah!

Episode 234: A Chat about The Chosen Kids with RM Ruiz
byChautona Havig

Remember when you were a kid and you wanted to help with whatever the family was doing, so Great Aunt Tissy gave you a stack of napkins and told you to put one at each plate? Remember how she commented on what a  “big girl” you were?  And then, as if that weren’t bad enough… remember how you were fourteen and a “big girl” was the last thing you wanted to be?

RM Ruiz’ The Chosen Kids Saga does just the opposite. She has a cast of related characters who are given real work by God–important work. They’re pulling on the armor of God and doing real battle with real enemies of the Kingdom of God and all while He works out their sanctification. Listen in to where she got the idea and where the Chosen Kids are going next.

What if God Decided to Use Ordinary Kids to Battle the Underworld?

Can I just say that I love the respect Rosemary shows her characters? These kids, as young as eleven, aren’t told to fold napkins and praised as if they saved the world. They’re given tools and assignments and do save the world… or at least a piece of it and with the real help of the Holy Spirit. How cool is that?

And she does it with a tortilla in one hand and some eye and mouth-watering chili stuffs in the other.

Oh… and don’t forget the research for Encounter at Paradise that sent her up a literal slippery slope into frozen tundra. In July. #BecauseResearch.

And the result is book two of the Chosen Kids Saga! (To listen to the first episode where we talked more about the first book, go HERE.)

The Chosen Kids: Encounter at Paradise by RM Ruiz

A thrilling adventure for middle-grade readers, showcasing the supernatural powers of God, His son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. This is the second book of The Chosen Kids Saga. The Chosen Kids are ready for their second mission!

It’s been two weeks since Caiden and his family’s summer of fun turned into a secret quest for God. After their first mission, the Chosen Kids step into their new roles without fear or reluctance. With revived faith and God’s blessed tools, they embark on their second hunt—ready to track, capture, and expel the enemy.

But the day turns into a tedious game of hide-and-seek as the family races to get ahead of the fiend. When the unthinkable happens, and their mission becomes personal, they must keep the faith and trust God’s plan. They could set things right with the Holy Spirit’s guidance, but only if they obey His commands completely. Caiden thinks he’s uncovered the answer, but no one ever listens to the youngest cousin…

With nightfall quickly approaching, the Chosen Kids set a trap.

But if their plan fails, they could lose one of their most valuable assets, and their quest will end in heartbreak and disaster.

In this next chapter of the Chosen Kids Saga, readers will see the cousins in action as they take on their new roles with renewed spirits. Just like the first book, this fast-paced adventure includes family love, kid banter, and humor with even more adventure, danger, and spiritual growth!

This series mixes fantasy and adventure elements with transparent Christian themes for young believers who want a story that includes gospel truths without reading through symbolism.

Middle-grade readers will follow along as these flawed, relatable characters—still finding their way in Christ—embark on a life-transforming quest to save humanity. With family love, spiritual growth, kid banter, and humor all mixed in for a fun and exciting journey.

The adventure starts with Encounter at the Dunes and continues in Encounter at Paradise. Grab a copy of both to begin the redemptive journey today! Book three, Encounter At Ambrose, coming summer 2024.

Learn more about the series, the characters, and Rosemary at TheChosenKids.com

And the series she mentioned was The Son of Angels.
