I can count on one hand the number of times I recall my mother “submitting” to the torture of having her picture taken. There’s maybe another half dozen photos that people got when I wasn’t around as well. When I went through my photography phase (I was abysmal with a film camera), my dad (who also hated his picture taken–I come by it honestly, folks!), would volunteer to be tortured so I’d not bother Mom about it. Funny thing is, my mother LOVES photos. Just not with her in them.

A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Wonderful Memories Wouldn’t You Say?
So when Melissa Wardwell asked us to share about a special gift we received at our wedding for the release of her final Independence Islands book, Delicious Devotion… Well, I knew exactly what gift that would be.
The only time in my entire life that I recall my mother wearing a dress? My wedding. The only time she ever allowed pictures taken without batting an eye (although I’m sure it twitched a few times)… my wedding. I don’t want to know what lengths my dad went through to get Mom to do it, but I’m crazy grateful for it. Best wedding gift EVER.
And Melissa’s Beth gets a similarly precious gift for her wedding, so I think that’s pretty cool.
Delicious Devotion is available now and oh my gravy is it a good book.
Why do weddings do their best to ruin relationships? Friends, family—even the couple!
Beth Stevens didn’t come to the Independence Islands to find a guy, but thanks to her beloved Gram, she had a place to go and the skills to start a business she loves. Meeting Scott again and getting engaged was a bonus she only dreamed of.
Now, in the final weeks before their Christmas Eve wedding, she can’t imagine not having him in her life. They have endured one hurdle after another in their two-year relationship and have remained devoted through it all.
And then months of wedding planning begins to fall apart as one person continues to undermine Beth’s choices.
Scott has waited for this day to come but as he witnesses Beth unravel, he does everything he knows to do to protect and stand by her.
The question is, will things ever come together enough to get them both to the altar before it’s too late?
This Breakers Head novel is Melissa Wardwell’s final novel in the Independence Islands Series featuring five islands, six authors, and a boatload of happily-ever-afters.
