Are You Ready for a Few Happy Mishaps & Prizes?

Mishaps off the Mainland released this week and our pets are celebrating. Super Bunny? Ugly and pretty sweaters? Adorability abounds! via @chautonahavig

mishaps off the MainlandThis week, Mishaps off the Mainland released.  Seriously, guys. You want to check out this book about a sassy dog groomer, the dog that ran away, and the guy who ran away with her heart!  To celebrate launch week the authors got together and “groomed” our pets for a sort of online pet pageant. Whether it’s a cute dog, a plucky chicken (work with me here), or a cuddly bunny, we’ve got the pet for you.  Check out each day and see what prize you can win.  Gift cards, ebooks, paperbacks, audiobooks–we’ve got ’em all.  SCORE!

First up, Meet Neville!

mishaps neville

We got this little guy from our local animal shelter.  He was only ten weeks old and tiny. They said he wouldn’t get very big because he’d had such a stunted life.  See, his parents were strays. He and his siblings had no socialization at all until they were nabbed by the shelter guys and given a second chance.  #7daughter fell in love.  We were told he’d take weeks to warm up to us.  In twenty-four hours, he was inseparable from my daughter or me.  However, he still gets nervous around tall people.  He wants to like them, but… well…

Still, the minute they sit, he’s happy to go up and meet them.  Who knows what’s going on in that crazy brain of his.

As you can see, Neville LongBarkem is not so little anymore.

Here is Neville’s entry into the pet parade:  The Ugly Sweater Contest (he’s never going to forgive me. Just look at that face).

Note: we bribed him with treats up there so you could see his festive sweater.  No villages were harmed in the making of this Dogzilla photograph. 😉

But, of course, you want to get your entry in for ALL the giveaways!

Note: not all links will work BEFORE the date listed, so be sure to come back to get those votes in!

For the bonus entry, I put Tabitha’s cat’s name which is Quinn. But, of course, you know that I know about Neville, cutest dog on the West Coast!

Aww Neville is adorable. He looks like he is a lover. Yup when a dog finds its particular person, they let you know. So cool that he chose your daughter and you. Have fun with him. Thanks for sharing a little about him.

Episode 547: A Chat with Terri McAdoo
byChautona Havig

Don’t know about you, but even the title of Tattooed Woman at the Well screams, “Sign me up!” I mean, that’s pretty riveting, wouldn’t you say? Listen in and see why Terri McAdoo’s book won the Genesis Award!

Okay, so trucks? Not my thing. Tattoos? Not my thing. This story? Man, I NEED TO READ THIS. Because this is totally my thing. I don’t know why it’s giving me contemporary The Count of Monte Cristo vibes, but it is.

Tattooed Woman at the Well by Terri McAdoo

A tale of revenge, resilience, and redemption awaits in Terri McAdoo’s Tattooed Woman at the Well. Step into the world of Bleu Yarbro, a tough-as-nails truck driver on a mission to right the wrongs of her past. Across America’s highways, Bleu navigates an unpredictable landscape of bullies, thugs, and heartache. Her only solace is the rooftop garden where she grows irises in memory of her beloved grandpa. But as Bleu’s quest for vengeance consumes her, she must confront the ultimate choice: Will she rise above revenge or sink under its weight? Buckle up for a fun and dangerous ride through the world of truck driving, tattooing, and temptation. With unlikely heroes and despicable villains at every turn, Tattooed Woman at the Well will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. Can Bleu find redemption on the open road, or will her past catch up with her? Fans of gritty, character-driven novels won’t want to miss this stunning debut from award-winning author Terri McAdoo.

Ever notice how you best know yourself--and know y Ever notice how you best know yourself--and know yourself the least? We humans are weird that way. Sometimes I think the Lord allows us to be blind to parts of ourselves for a time so as not to drive us too crazy too quickly. Or something.
Characters most like me are hard because they're so very convicting to write AND... because I don't usually know it's me until that conviction its. I tend to have an idealized picture of who I am until reality strips away those rosy glasses and leaves me with crystal-clear vision. Blech.
Second to me... I'd say nasty people. They give me such an ick feeling. Sure, it's cathartic... but it's so hard because I want to redeem everyone, and that's just unrealistic and frankly, arrogant. So... there you have it.
