Okay, so Liz Johnson has been one of my favorite PEOPLE (not to mention author) for the past fifteen or so years, so of course, I was excited to get to talk to her about her latest release, Beyond the Tides.
This book set on Prince Edward Island has everything you could want from contemporary Christian romance… and then OH so much more. Seriously… you’ve got to read this book!
What Happens When I Get to Chat with One of My Favorite Authors?
Author of a nice library of books, Liz Johnson is one of the first authors I ever connected with–before she was even published! We’ve had this odd connection all these years–often writing similar premises in totally different ways. Bizarre, but cool.
Stay tuned for her rerelease of The Kidnapping of Kenzie Thorn and the next two books. I can’t wait to snag my new copies! As I told her, I can’t keep most of the books I read. I just don’t have space, but Liz’s books will always have a home on my shelves. #becauseLiz.
From there I learned that she has a novella I’ve never heard about. What’s with that? So, if you wanted a taste of Liz writing historical, then you’ll want to snag A Log Cabin Christmas. YEAH. That’s what happens when you finally chat with someone. You learn where she’s been holding out on you! OR something.
Of course, we couldn’t leave out Liz’s first Prince Edward Island series, Prince Edward Island Dreams, but then… guys.
Prince Edward Island Shores.
Oliver. Meg. Whittaker. Lobsters (they’re mean little suckers, but then maybe I would be too if I were about to end up in a pot!)
When we recorded, I’d only read nine chapters.
I finished it this weekend, and oh my word. This episode shows the richness and depth of the characters and the story, but it doesn’t showcase them well. I’ve loved Liz’s books for years, but this is her best work–even the two or three-page kiss. Okay, so I skimmed and flipped, and did everything I could to get away from it, but I guarantee it’s Basham approved.
I’ll just leave that right there and move along.
And, writing a family series as only Liz Johnson can, we have two more books with two more Ross brothers to get a full picture of this family’s story. I am so excited. Well, except for the part where you have to wait until next July to get book number two.
Beyond the Tides by Liz Johnson.
When Meg Whitaker’s father decides to sell the family’s lobster-fishing business to her high school nemesis, she sets out to prove she should inherit it instead. Though she’s never had any interest in running the small fleet–or even getting on a boat due to her persistent seasickness–she can’t stand to see Oliver Ross take over. Not when he ruined her dreams for a science scholarship and an Ivy League education ten years ago.
Oliver isn’t proud of what he did back then. Angry and broken by his father walking out on his family, he lashed out at Meg–an innocent bystander. But owning a respected fishing fleet on Prince Edward Island is the opportunity of a lifetime, and he’s not about to walk away just because Meg wants him to.
Meg’s father has the perfect solution: Oliver and Meg must work the business together, and at the end of the season, he’ll decide who gets it. Along the way, they may discover that their stories are more similar than they thought . . . and their dreams aren’t what they expected.
Bestselling author Liz Johnson invites you back to Prince Edward Island for a brand-new series about family, forgiveness, and the kind of love that heals all wounds.
