First Annual Sister Fix Trip!
Well, it’s been one of those weeks. I left Ridgecrest early EARLY Wednesday morning and boarded a plane for Dallas. My sister (you know, the one I hadn’t sen in 20 years before we met up in July) met me there and drove me to my birth town–Duncan, Oklahoma. There we met up with a couple of cousins and had a fun night of laughing, reminiscing, laughing, singing, laughing… we MIGHT have laughed a time or six thousand. We spent Thursday and part of Friday visiting family (including a reunion of the remaining siblings–hadn’t seen each other in the same place at the same time for over 40 years!), and then off to Tulsa for shopping and dinner. HAD. A. Blast. I’ve never been shopping with my sister before. Just sayin’. Not. Once. Off to our parents’ house (haven’t all been together in one house since I was almost 8.
One of the fun things about this trip is that it’s supposed to be an annual thing. Since we’re sisters, we’re fixin’ to get our sister fix… you know, every year. Genius, I say!
But then last night, I drove 20 miles away to meet my assistant Christy! That’s right. CHRISTY. WOOT. After all these years, we finally got to meet each other. How awesome is that? Isn’t she adorable? I think I look as exhausted as I feel–not the most flattering picture of me–but you know what. I love it. Because we’re in the same place. She has a delightful family of darling children and a pretty cool husband too!
Alas, her vacation home is without wifi so our grandiose plans on working on the newsletter and this blog post TOGETHER kind of fell flat, but you know what? Who cares? WE HAD DINNER TOGETHER. Did I use that word together? Yeah. THAT!
I am in Okla. City now! We just came from my oldest brother’s funeral . It was good to see family. We like to eat and visit and shop. My sister,niece and I had lunch and shopped Tuesday. Thanks for episode 34. I am looking forward to Carol and the Belles. So happy that you got to visit with family.
How wonderful! Time with siblings is precious; I think I realize that more now because it takes 24 hours of travel to be able to see any of mine. We were able to be together, all 8 of us, 2 1/2 years ago for a wedding. As far as a favorite activity, I remember Dad reading bedtime stories, playing badminton on the lawn on a summer evening after supper, playing board games together. Now, sitting around visiting would be wonderful. So glad you got to be with your family!

Since you were meeting your sister in Dallas, I will no complain I did not get to meet up somewhere with you. On my bucket list though. Just saying. 🙂

I have 3 younger brothers and our country neighborhood was full of boys. My favorite memory, there are many , would be going to the swimming hole in shorts and t shirts. It was a mud hole, we would slide down the bank and throw mud, it was great. Mom never complained, but can imagine that mess for the wash! I lost my glasses in that hole one time and they all went looking for them, they found them, I don’t think they were even bent.
LOVE that story! That’s fabulous. Can you imagine Aggie’s kids doing that?

Just have one older brother and riding bicycles – swooping through the subdivision where we lived for a long while in California – riding like maniacs (and falling more than once!) Now – it is good to get together and just be the aging adults we are after all these years – big bro is 71~
I enjoy going on walks or going shopping with my sister when I am back in that states. When we were younger, we liked to play games a lot like monopoly or aggravation.
