He was once a little boy, toddling around the room. She once sat on her daddy’s lap and listened to stories of brave princes fighting for their kingdom. He once had a voice that cracked at all the wrong moments. She once wore a prom dress and took her father’s breath away. They endured boot camp, separation from family, heat, cold, and constant tension in service to their country. Now, their family has only a flag, a medal, pictures–memories. To those who served and died, I thank you. For those who lost and grieve, I thank you too. God bless the USA.
