How One Woman’s Ministry Turned into an Inspired by Life Story

by Chautona Havig · Leave a Comment

The Traveling Prayer Shawl by Jennifer Lynn Cary is an intriguing split-time novel that I am anxious to start reading ASAP! via @chautonahavig

Okay, so “retro romance” isn’t an official category, but when an author’s books barely squeak into historical, what’s she to do?  Especially since some of her target readers lived those years!  Jennifer Lynn Cary writes split-time and retro romance novels that sound so delightful and encouraging that I’ve added them all to my “want to read” list on GoodReads.

How One Woman’s Ministry Turned into an Inspired by Life Story

When I saw the title of this book, I was excited. My own experience with prayer shawl ministries intrigued me. How would a prayer shawl be the impetus for a story?  What kind of story?

Well, if you read the reviews, you’ll see that readers are LOVING this book.

The pull between life dreams and responsibilities and love of family and their expectations is such a familiar and understandable one.  I am eager to read this book and enjoy its inspirational themes for myself.

But Jennifer Lynn Cary hasn’t just written a book about prayer shawls and climbing corporate ladders.

In addition to that book, she’s also written The Weather Girls Series–a fun romp through the seventies. Ever wondered what life was like back in the seventies for parents?  Grandparents?  Older siblings?  Younger siblings? Well, Jennifer has absolutely provided that. With fun pop culture (unless you’re an ignoramus like me!) references and all, you’ll be transported back in time to see what Indiana life was like.

So much of the author’s personal experience has influenced these stories in one way or another, but that’s not all.

Jennifer Lynn Cary offers a free novella for folks who sign up for her newsletter (or you can buy it if you want to). In that, you’ll get an even closer, personal look at her family’s life including Colonel Sanders, her first pen pal, and more!

Speaking of The Weather Girls, don’t forget to read the box set so you can get that recipe for French Silk Pie.  You never know when someone you know might need a husband-getting dish… or is that just “need to get a dishy guy”? (Also available on Kindle Unlimited. Just sayin’.

Her dream account just landed in her lap…

…So did the future of her family

And she’s got two months to save them both.

Cami Madison’s grandmother died, leaving her with a task she must complete or all the inheritance goes to charity. Plus her boss handed her the ad campaign that will win her the coveted vice presidency opening.

Both have the same timetable.

When she realizes the projects are intertwined, things really start to unravel.

Kate Hanson raised her granddaughter after the child became an orphan in a car accident. But not all scars are on the outside.

Can Kate’s last request help Cami to heal?

Will Cami be able to step up to the job?

You will love this split-time women’s romance because when family is on the line, everyone knows the only way to survive is wrapped in prayer.

Order The Traveling Prayer Shawl now.

Episode 263: A Chat about The Love Script w/ Toni Shiloh
byChautona Havig

I had another lovely conversation with Toni Shiloh last month. Her latest book, The Love Script released and boy does it promise to be another #BookTouchdown!  Listen in to what you’ll find in this Love in the Spotlight series and especially in The Love Script.

Note: links may be affiliate links that provide me with a small commission at no extra expense to you.

How Many Lies Does It Take to Expose the Truth That Love Brings?

Authors tell me over and over that they experience the same things I do when I’m writing. You start helping your characters work through their problems, and as you do, the Lord starts exposing your own.  He helps you understand where you need growth and helps pull weeds that try to choke out that growth.

The Love Script has a great twist of someone trying to use a lie to smooth over the gossipy ripples of false reporting (genius way to handle it, eh?) and oh the fall out.

Toni promises we’ll see some great wisdom from Lamont’s mother and some deep truths that Neveah discovers.

The Love Truth by Toni Shiloh

A Hollywood hair stylist.

Nevaeh Richards loves making those in the spotlight shine but prefers the anonymity of staying behind her stylist chair, where no one notices her. But when a photo of Nevaeh and Hollywood A-lister Lamont Booker goes viral for all the wrong reasons, her quiet life becomes the number-one trending topic.

The silver screen’s latest heartthrob.

Lamont Booker’s bold faith has gained him a platform, and the authenticity of his faith is well known . . . until the tabloids cause the world to question everything he claims to be. With his reputation on the line, he finds himself hearing out his agent’s push for a fake relationship–something he never thought he’d consider in a million years.

A love that goes off script.

With their careers at risk, Nevaeh and Lamont have to convince the world that their scripted romance is more than just an act. But when fake seems to turn into something real, can Nevaeh trust her heart in a world where nothing is ever as it seems?

You can find out more about Toni on her WEBSITE.  Follow her on GoodReads and BookBub.

And don’t forget that you can get 30% off the book with free shipping at BakerBookHouse.com. And you can get You Make It Feel Like Christmas, too!
