Just What I Loved & Hated about Out of the Ordinary

Just What I loved & Hated about Out of the Ordinary

We had a bit of a mixup with Out of the Ordinary. I tried and tried to do the download and finally asked for help.  Turns out, I was supposed to have a paperback.  It wasn't there. But other books were also in the line-up, as well as a need to finish NaNoWriMo, so it had to wait until today. I Continue Reading

Just What Makes Troublemakers So Crazy Charming, Anyway?

Just What Makes Troublemakers So Crazy Charming, Anyway?

I stared at the screen for… hours. Okay, it was probably only a few minutes, but long enough for him to notice when I reached for my tablet and the insanely addicting game on it. “I thought you’ve been looking forward to reading that book.” “I have.” “For weeks, right?” Could he have dug Continue Reading

Out of the Clear Montana Skye with Sylvia Stewart

Out of the Clear Montana Skye with Sylvia Stewart

Hey there!  Back with another Wonderland Wednesday celebrating the release of Wonderland Wishes, a collection of seven never-before-released Christmas "noellas!"  Today's victim... er, I mean guest... is Sylvia Stewart, the author of Montana Skye, the final book in the collection. I absolutely Continue Reading

When the Unexpected Delights You with Its Uniqueness

When the Unexpected Delights You with Its Uniqueness

As many of you know, I’ve been rather scatterbrained and uncommunicative in recent weeks. Thanks to computer deaths and publishing glitches, I’ve even been late with reviews. So, when I finally finished everything I needed to last night, I took a deep breath, inhaled beautiful sweet, dusty, Continue Reading

There’s No Place Like Home: Or How to be a “Church Person”

Home for the Holidays by Lesley Ann McDaniel. I’ve enjoyed getting to know different authors as we work on different projects together.  We all have different strengths, so combined I felt like we had a really wonderful mashup of talents and ideas. I wondered if I was the only one who noticed that, Continue Reading

The Best Formula for Destroying Beloved Poetry in 3 Easy Steps

The Best Formula for Destroying Beloved Poetry in 3 Easy Steps

It happens every year. I get an idea, and I run with it--a parody to celebrate the coming of NaNoWriMo--the national novel writing month.  This is when crazies like me decide to write 50,000 words in 30 days--during the Thanksgiving holidays, no less. Now really, for me, that's not a lot of Continue Reading

My Top Colors of Christmas Are All Bright Red

Shopping, cleaning, lists… great heaping gobs of lists. Planning, card making, and of course, writing. Always writing. Sweet movies, sweeter books. Music playing to keep me going. So much going on at once you might just implode. And forgetting stuff? Totally going to happen. Something going Continue Reading

What Happens When Tinseltown Tugs at Your Heart?

What Happens When Tinseltown Tugs at Your Heart

I asked Lynnette to tell us a bit about her "Hollywood Stars." Check out what she said! What Happens When Tinseltown Tugs at Your Heart Lynnette has a wonderful story for us, so let's get to know a little more about it and her, shall we? How did you come up with the title Kittens and Snow Flurries Continue Reading

Deadly Proof Review

The Deadly Proof Is in the Reading Pudding–It’s a Winner

“I don’t have time to read another book! I have deadlines!” Look, I’m not proud of my wailing and whining at my husband last night. I’m not. There it was, eight o’clock, I hadn’t eaten all day, and since I’d only had three hours of sleep, a long nap after company went home meant I slept through Continue Reading

The Greatest Generation Is Found in Under Fire

Air raids. Bomb shelters. Plucky British dressing their shop windows when the building next door is bombed out. The French Resistance. Americans who would never otherwise have the chance to see the world, fighting alongside the world against heinous crimes disguised as war. What is it about these Continue Reading

When You Live in the Desert, They're ALL Seasons in the Sun

When You Live in the Desert, They’re ALL Seasons in the Sun

The gentle breezes ruffle the curtains of my nostalgic mind. Okay, it’s wishful thinking. But let me dream a bit, okay? Because the reality is it’s September. And this is the Mojave Desert. Know what that means? WIND. Yep! Fall has arrived. The weather is much more temperate, but with that comes Continue Reading

Ever notice how you best know yourself--and know y Ever notice how you best know yourself--and know yourself the least? We humans are weird that way. Sometimes I think the Lord allows us to be blind to parts of ourselves for a time so as not to drive us too crazy too quickly. Or something.
Characters most like me are hard because they're so very convicting to write AND... because I don't usually know it's me until that conviction its. I tend to have an idealized picture of who I am until reality strips away those rosy glasses and leaves me with crystal-clear vision. Blech.
Second to me... I'd say nasty people. They give me such an ick feeling. Sure, it's cathartic... but it's so hard because I want to redeem everyone, and that's just unrealistic and frankly, arrogant. So... there you have it.
If you have a question you want me to answer, leave it in the comments OR... zip me an email at chautona@chautona.com. I'll try to work them in (and will probably combine those that are really similar.

Going nuts over here waiting for yet ANOTHER Lord Going nuts over here waiting for yet ANOTHER Lord Edgington by @benedictbrownauthor novel. Sigh. I dont think this is what Solomon was talking about when he said, "A virtuous woman, who can find?"
Clearly, he wasn't talking about me, considering the whole patience being a virtue thing.
