I just finished An Amish Buggy Ride by Sarah Price, and I am excited to share it with you. Sarah has written an engaging story with a deeper meaning.
Here’s my review:
I didn’t really know what to expect when I started this book. Amish fiction can often feel repetitive, but Sarah’s novel delves deep into the flaws we all face in life–bad choices, not accepting responsibility for those choices, and wrongly accepting responsibility for others’ choices.
Additionally, she ALSO shows that we aren’t lone sheep floundering alone on a hillside somewhere. We do have others to help us–to encourage us to do the right thing when our own flaws blind us to what the right thing is.
But aside from the lessons hidden within a gentle, tender story, the authenticity with which Sarah writes adds an extra layer to the novel. She added just enough authentic Pennsylvania Dutch to the book to keep it feeling like you ARE in Lancaster County without burdening the pages with unfamiliar words.
One of the things I loved most was the careful description.
From nature, to food, to clothing, to the details of everyday life, Sarah shares exactly enough detail to place you there and make you feel like you can see it without burdening you with a laundry list of things to note.
If you want a spiritually uplifting and thought-provoking story with an authentic peek into the diverse world of the Amish (they aren’t the cookie cutter people the “English” seem to think), An Amish Buggy Ride might just be the book you’re looking for. Add to it a gentle romance, and you have a delightful way to spend a nippy fall afternoon. 🙂
I received this book free with no expectations upon me, but I chose to review it after reading and enjoying it.

I only discovered Sarah’s awesome writings about a year ago . With that being said, it is difficult to find and purchase her books. I still prefer to hold my book in my hands while reading and no one locally carries her work, : ( therefor I have to drive 40 miles to the nearest Barnes and Nobles and special order it… So to win this new release would be awesome!!!!!
