Who Is Anxious for a Book That’s “The Pits”?

by Chautona Havig · Leave a Comment

If you’re just joining us, this is part of a series on my fabulous launch team to celebrate the release of Will Not See.  This is not the book that is “the pits” I promise.

One of the coolest things about a launch team is the diverse personalities of the people involved. Some answered my questions with a rather minimalist approach while others just chatted about life. My next team member was one of the chatterers, and it really made this post about her EASY–NOT the pits. I just got to break it up into sections and bam! It was done! Super cool.

So… next up: Sharon!

Of course, since this is about the team members, I figured people might want to know a little about each one.  I kept learning things I didn’t know!

Sharon said:

First off, I am a youth pastor’s wife, database manager for a D1 University, mom to 3, and Nana to a precious baby girl.

When we aren’t working with our youth group we are typically on the go with one of the kids. My youngest is now a senior in high school, my middle son is starting into the surgical technician program in August, and my oldest is a senior at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. We spend a lot of time between here and there and have become great friends with the Frontier Airlines staff out of Denver.

Air Force Chapel

I absolutely love Colorado. It’s difficult to look at those majestic mountains and not think about the Creator that sculpted them. I would say that is my favorite place, but I am going on my dream vacation in September to Hawaii so that may change.

Another thing I wanted to know was about personal businesses and such. I mean, if these gals are helping me promote my books (you know, helping me with my business), then I want to reciprocate.

Looks like  I’ll be updating some of the stuff in my kitchen.

Sharon i an Independent Consultant for Pampered Chef. She says:

I started it in April to help offset the costs of the new grandbaby, and my daughter helps me. My focus is on Facebook parties, so it doesn’t matter if you are in California, New York, or Timbuktu (actually that one does matter because it’s not in the U.S.) I can run your party from my house and you don’t have to clean yours!

An aside from me, but if you change the spelling, you CAN do it in the US.  There’s a Timbuctoo, California. Just sayin’.

But as far as my books were concerned, I’m seeing a pattern with how these gals found me!

Sharon said:

I began reading Chautona’s work with Past Forward in serial novel form. Each week, I would anxiously await the next and kick myself when I would miss one. I now own the whole set and love looking back at Willow and Chad.

I was so impressed with Chautona’s work that I messaged her (pretty sure more than once) to tell her how thankful to God that I was for her as a writer, and I love that she writes clean Christian fiction. I’ve ran into other “Christian” novels out there, that bow their head and say a prayer so the book is considered Christian, and I couldn’t finish the book because of the things I was trying to read through that were un-Christian.

Sharon has a rather interesting take on how she joined the Launch Team:

After praising her over and over again, she finally decided to have me join her team so I would leave her alone.

(Just for the record, that’s not quite how it went. I just really enjoyed getting to know her. And she doesn’t live too far from my parents, so next trip that way, we’ve gotta do a coffee/Coke run!)

Sharon has been with me since the first official team with Carol and the Belles. She joined us for most including the Madeline books, Front Window, New Year’s Revolutions, and I think Ante Up, too. Sharon, didn’t you do Jack with us?

Book of HoursLike me, Sharon is a very eclectic reader.

She also loves to read Beth Moore, Ted Dekker, Janette Oke, Davis Bunn (Sharon! Did you love the Book of Hours as much as I did, Sharon?), Max Lucado (C’mon. Who doesn’t? “Did you ever think, ‘That’s God eating my soup’?”), and Karen Kingsbury to name a few.

And if you wondered where I got the title for this post… here it is!

Out of all the books that I could mention that I am most waiting for Chautona to finish, I’m more looking forward to 1 story. Whether it’s a part of another book or stands alone. Ever since I read Past Forward, I’ve been curious about Chad’s sister and “The Pit” so come on Chautona, give us the rest of that story please!

(Note: I’m always amazed that people refer to it from Past Forward, because there was more about it in Discovering Hope, I think!)

Time to pick sides, Sharon!  What’ll it be?

Alexa or Madeline? Totally Alexa
Mac or Luke? Luke
Joe or Keith? Joe
Cassie or Kaye? Cassie
Wynnewood or Legends? Oh goodness! I haven’t made it into these just yet!!!! Now I have to hurry!  (Do we see a recurring theme here?  Ahem)

Next Up…  Barb!

Episode 556: A Chat with Sharon Wilharm
byChautona Havig

Three Women. One Unlikely Mission. One Town Forever Changed. If that doesn’t grab you, nothing will! Listen in as I chat with Sharon Wilharm about this intriguing book.

Loved our conversation–life in Florida during the late 19th century, authors, books, and movies she reminded me of, and even…

THE NEXT BOOK! Can’t wait to see what publisher snaps that one up! EEEP!

The Amazing Crab Alley Revival by Sharon Wilharm

In 1897 Florida, a widowed woman searching for purpose finds herself drawn into an unexpected friendship—and a revival that will transform an entire town.

The year is 1897 and wealthy widow Lydia Culpepper is evaluating her mundane existence. For sixty-three years, she’s faithfully gone through the motions of fulfilling everyone else’s expectations for her life, but nothing she does is ever enough. She longs for something more.

When a young boy comes to her house in search of his missing coon dog, she gets her wish. She meets Emily Reed, a young finishing school instructor, and Opal Jackson, an Irish single mother, and the three women join together on a mission that turns the First Baptist Church on its head.

Suddenly, the town is in an uproar as lives are being changed. When Yellow Fever hits, it looks like their efforts may have been in vain, but the epidemic isn’t enough to thwart the fruits of the Crab Alley Revival.
