Using story to connect YOU to the Master Storyteller

Ready for another Can’t-Put-it-Down Romantic Suspense Book?

by Chautona Havig ·

Critical Alliance doesn't release for two more months, BUT, that just means you have time to read the first two books in the series first! via @chautonahavig

She’s back again! Author Elizabeth Goddard and I chatted about her last book in the Rocky Mountain Courage series (and a tiny bit about what is coming next) in this episode!  We had a blast talking about writing, the complexities of research, and our favorite things about books. Listen in for more!

Ready for another Can’t-Put-it-Down Romantic Suspense Book?

We chatted about the first book in this series, Present Danger, back in Episode 64, and now… the final book in the series is here (almost)! Elizabeth Goddard first said she’d never write another book about cyber security, but now that she’s had some distance from all the research (and the unsettling nature of that research), do you think she will stick to that?  I sure hope not, because this book sounds AMAZING.

Critical Alliance is set in the Montana Rocky Mountains, of course.  Where else would it be in this series?  Especially since Goddard admits to loving this area of the country.

However, her next series is going to take us a bit north… to Alaska! Okay, now all I can hear is Johnny Horton’s song. I’ll be singing it all week.  I blame Elizabeth.

Releasing July 5, Critical Alliance is also available from the Baker Book House website at 40% off retail with FREE shipping.

This makes the paperback LESS than the cost of the Kindle version (aside from tax, license, and extortion fees 😉 ).  Seriously, that’s like 2000 book prices right there!  And during a paper shortage, too!  WOOT!  ALSO, sometimes Baker Books send out their preorders EARLY.  This means we can get it even before the release date sometimes!  (I’ve gotten several recently. Just sayin’!

Rocky Mountain Courage Series #3

Mackenzie Hanson’s special set of skills opened the door to a successful career as a professor of cybersecurity at a Michigan university, allowing her to put her criminal past behind her. But when a long-ago partner in crime delivers a cryptic message about her father’s tech company being under cyberattack, she heads for Montana to secure exposed assets, close security breaches, and hopefully save lives.

Diplomatic Security Services special agent Alex Knight is back home in Montana to decompress from a mission gone wrong. But even as he’s trying to relax, he’s drawn into another mystery, complete with suspicious deaths, lethal threats, and whispers of espionage that all have one thing in common–a beautiful cybersecurity expert with a dark past.

When the situation turns deadly, Alex and Mackenzie will have to work together to find the answers they need–before someone silences Mackenzie for good.

USA Today bestselling author Elizabeth Goddard weaves a tangled web of nail-biting suspense and heart-stopping romance in this fast-paced conclusion to her Rocky Mountain Courage series.

Taking the pulse of Christian fiction

Episode 599: A Chat with Frank McKinney
byChautona Havig

Few people tackle the topic of hell in Christian fiction, so I was curious to see what Frank McKinney would do with it in his Hell’s Heaven. Listen in as we talk about his inspiration and what made him tackle this tough topic.

Hell’s Heaven by Frank McKinney

Once damned to Hell, it’s forever…or is it? Three “good and godly” people die in the same instant on December 19, 2037: 94-year-old Alexander in Germany, 29-year-old Carolina in Brazil, and 64-year-old Eddie in Butte, Montana. Eagerly, they find themselves in line together outside the Pearly Gates, expecting to be recognized for their sanctified lives and then welcomed into Heaven. Instead, they are violently plucked out of line by angels-turned-demons and cast down into Hell, where they are met at one of the three fiery gates by Judas, Jesus’s betrayer. What lies on the other side of Hell’s gates is beyond comprehension: a sprawling, stench-filled, cavernous realm with a low ceiling of opaque, thick, colorless glass. The voices of the damned release a chorus of everlasting despair. It’s said that no one ever wakes up in Heaven surprised that they are there. Well, Alexander, Carolina, and Eddie are shocked and dismayed that they have been condemned to Hell after the exceptional lives they believe they have led. This must be a mistake! Is this really their fate – forever? Even as they are subjected to Satan’s diabolical and unrelenting mental and physical torments, Alexander, Carolina, and Eddie discover cryptic signs they believe are sent from their loved ones in the heavenly realm. Then when they witness rare bolts of brilliant light wherein a few condemned seemingly disappear, they start to wonder … During the three days between His crucifixion and resurrection, Jesus went to Hell and freed countless condemned sinners. Could there be a way out of Hell for Alexander, Carolina, and Eddie?
