Using story to connect YOU to the Master Storyteller

I Spot Spotify: playlists and cool stuff!

by Chautona Havig · 9 Comments

So I have a lovely online friend who is all hip to the cool new stuff–you know, like Spotify.  That’s my way of saying she knows what’s out there and I’m an old geezer. She asked if I had it.  I said, “Um… probably not?” That would be because I had no clue what she was talking about! I’ll admit.  I thought she meant some SEO plugin for WordPress or something.

So she tells me about this place where you can make awesome playlists and all kinds of cool beans stuff.  I looked at dozens of options for JUST ONE SONG!  They have some of my favorite artists–people that even my folks parents’ age dodn’t always remember!  People like Jo Stafford, The Four Lads, Les Paul and Mary Ford, The Ames Brothers, and more!

But wait… what do they have to do with anything?  Who cares about a bunch of “oldie moldies?”

Please excuse me for a few more seconds.  I had to revel in good old music for a moment.  Now. Guess what Gretchen did? She created playlists!!!  For Ante Up! Her playlists have almost all the hymns mentioned in the book!  How cool is that?  It’s only missing the correct version of “Oh Happy Day” and “Miriam’s Song.”  THAT is pretty impressive.

But she didn’t stop there.  Then she came up with a purely instrumental list!  Can you imagine reading through the BONUS material with a nice playlist in the background?  How cool is that?  So, thanks, Gretchen for your amazing lists!  I’m so excited to share them with everyone!

Here’s the instrumental:

And here’s the vocal:

AND!  If you prefer to have links, you can get them here:

Thanks again, Gretchen, for sharing these with us!  All that time you put into it…. I can’t thank you enough!

You are not an old geezer. You’re a genius writer who is too busy writing amazing stories for us to read to explore all the new online things.

You’re so welcome. Hope you and the readers enjoy them! 😉

(Now excuse me while I go make another themed playlist. This could get addicting…)

So my question is, can you download these playlists to your mp3 player or i-Pod or etc.?

Hello Faith, you can absolutely install the free Spotify app on your iPod, etc. To download the music (rather than stream it on a wifi/data connection), you have to have a paid Spotify account, though. I just use Spotify when I’m home on wifi at this point.

That’s awesome! Several of the hymns in the earlier books were not ones I was familiar with so it’s great to know where to find them.

Same here! I had such fun discovering some unfamiliar titles and tunes. Maybe one of these days I’ll beg Chautona for an entire list of ever hymn mentioned in the entire Aggie series.

That won’t be too hard. I’m going to be doing some update/revisions in the first three. I’ll just nab the songs while I’m in there.

Episode 544: A Chat with Nicholas Teeguarden
byChautona Havig

I loved my conversation with Nicholas Teeguarden about his Masa Chronicles, and I loved the story. Listen in and see why.

For those of you looking for action over romance, you get it in this book! There IS a light romance, yes, but it’s strongly secondary to the main plot.

Note: I read the book and LOVED this story. I really loved the story, actually. I listened to the audio, though, and since I was so excited about the audiobook, I thought I should mention that I didn’t enjoy the audio experience. My biggest complaint is the pronunciation of so many things. Story great. Others might not have trouble, but I needed to be honest about that since I was so excited to see it.

The Copper Scroll by Nicholas Teeguarden

Book of the Year Finalist A lost scroll. A deadly secret. A race across the Middle East—where every clue could be fatal. When grad student and Army veteran Joshua Bennett uncovers a cryptic Dead Sea artifact, he’s thrust into a world of coded messages, ruthless rivals, and ancient conspiracies. Every answer leads to new danger—and every ally could be an enemy. Perfect for fans of Dan Brown, Steve Berry, and Indiana Jones—this is a clean, high-octane archaeological thriller you won’t want to put down.

Learn more on Nicholas’s WEBSITE and follow on GoodReads and BookBub.

Ever notice how you best know yourself--and know y Ever notice how you best know yourself--and know yourself the least? We humans are weird that way. Sometimes I think the Lord allows us to be blind to parts of ourselves for a time so as not to drive us too crazy too quickly. Or something.
Characters most like me are hard because they're so very convicting to write AND... because I don't usually know it's me until that conviction its. I tend to have an idealized picture of who I am until reality strips away those rosy glasses and leaves me with crystal-clear vision. Blech.
Second to me... I'd say nasty people. They give me such an ick feeling. Sure, it's cathartic... but it's so hard because I want to redeem everyone, and that's just unrealistic and frankly, arrogant. So... there you have it.
If you have a question you want me to answer, leave it in the comments OR... zip me an email at chautona@chautona.com. I'll try to work them in (and will probably combine those that are really similar.
