Using story to connect YOU to the Master Storyteller

Time to Expand Horizons…

by Chautona Havig · 4 Comments

A friend did one of those “States I’ve Visited” things on Facebook today.  I decided to check it out myself.  I was curious just how many I’d seen.  That’s where it got interesting… I’ve seen a lot more than I thought I had!  WOOT!

Create Your Own Visited States Map
So, I got to wondering…  Just how hard would it be for me to see the 25 states I haven’t seen!  I mean, 25 states isn’t bad at all!  I’m halfway there (and according to this thing, I’m technically over, because it counts DC as a “state” for visiting purposes).  But hey, I’m probably at the halfway point in my life and I’ve visited about half the states.  It doesn’t seem too unreasonable to assume I could manage the other half.  I think maybe I’ll concentrate my next author appearances in those little gray states.

Anyone seen ’em all?  Where would you go next?

*yes, I am procrastinating and avoiding work.  How’d you guess?*

I think you should take a little road trip and drive through Oregon and Washington and then take an Alaskan cruise from Seattle!

My last 5 to see would be North Dakota, Utah, Nevada, Michigan and Hawaii.
We did the Alaska cruise thing and did 25 states in 5 weeks one summer. First 4 probably will get done sometime, but not sure about Hawaii. They are all worth seeing.

I have 10 left. 3 neighbors in the deep south, 6 neighbors in the northeast and Hawaii. I don’t have current plans to visit any of them, but whenever I see something like this, it makes me want to do it. Alaska is amazing and I would go again. I spent 5 summers working in a salmon cannery and it was awesome.

You can do it! I have three states left (not including Alaska or Hawaii). My three states are Utah, Nevada, and Colorado. In September I will be moving to New Mexico. I believe I can get my last three states in the four years I will live there.

    We can get this done.

Scout & Barnaby Series by Becca Wierwille

The Scout and Barnaby Mysteries are funny, heartwarming Christian chapter books for kids ages 6-10 by award-winning children’s author Becca Wierwille. These lightly illustrated mysteries star a girl named Scout and her unusually perceptive dog, Barnaby. They team up to solve mysteries at a Christian wilderness camp using her love of big words and his super sniffer.

The series begins when Barnaby eats Scout’s dictionary—and after that, he can understand words!

Written as a bridge between chapter books and longer middle grade works, these books combine fun whodunit mystery elements with faith and humor. Books feature a larger font for emerging readers, stay short at approximately 15,000 words, and include illustrations by award-winning illustrator Brad Smith.

This campaign is not just for one book, but for the next THREE books in the Scout and Barnaby Mysteries (books 4-6)!

Learn more about Becca on her WEBSITE and follow her on GoodReads and BookBub.
