When the Meadow Blooms releases in just a couple of days, and what a story Ann H. Gabhart has for us this time! You won't want to miss this! via @chautonahavig

Beloved historical Christian author, Ann H. Gabhart has a new release, and I was so excited to talk to her about her book, When the Meadow Blooms, and to talk about her love for story, for Kentucky, and for nature, as well as how they infuse her stories.

This Author Brings a Ray of Sunshine and A Bunch of Hope

Only an author like Ann H. Gabhart can write a story that is both unique and parallel to current history.  Set after the Spanish  Flu pandemic,When the Meadow Blooms captured my imagination the moment I started reading. Ann’s description of nature, of her Meadowland, and the delightful little girl who drew birds to dot her I’s and a long-tailed mouse at the bottom of her letters promises a read like no other.

I haven’t even met Dirk yet, and I already love the lonely recluse. Oh, and that’s an important thing to remember… the “Look Inside” sample is already available on Amazon!  EEEP!

We also chatted about some of her other books (let’s pester the publishers for more Hidden Springs Mysteries!) and the way her faith elements work their way into the stories. Hint: this book is more of a “and a little child shall lead them” than the wise, old sage we usually see from her.

Like most of her books, When the Meadow Blooms is available on Kindle, in paperback, and on audio! Furthermore, you can get the paperback for just about a dollar more than the Kindle version (and FREE SHIPPING!) if you order from Baker Book House before May 3, 2022.  After that, the price goes up a little (but is still 30$ off retail). We just don’t know about the shipping.  So, it’s something to think about.  Grab it fast and you save a bundle (I have mine on the way!

When the MEadow Blooms Ann H. GabhartWhen the Meadow Blooms by Ann H. Gabhart

If any place on God’s earth was designed to help one heal, it is Meadowland. Surely here, at her brother-in-law’s Kentucky farm, Rose and her daughters can recover from the events of the recent past–the loss of her husband during the 1918 influenza epidemic, her struggle with tuberculosis that required a stay at a sanatorium, and her girls’ experience in an orphanage during her illness. At Meadowland, hope blooms as their past troubles become rich soil in which their faith can grow.

Dirk Meadows may have opened his home to his late brother’s widow and her girls, but he keeps his heart tightly closed. The roots of his pain run deep, and the evidence of it is written across his face. Badly scarred by a fire and abandoned by the woman he loved, Dirk fiercely guards his heart from being hurt again. But it may be that his visitors will bring light back into his world and unlock the secret to true healing.

Bestselling author Ann H. Gabhart explores the tender places within the human heart in this character-driven story of trusting God to turn our burdens into something beautiful.

I love jukeboxes, and a book with someone who knows all about them? Sign me up! EEEP!

Beyond the Melody by Amanda Cabot

Neither one is looking for love, But sometimes all it takes is one dance. By the spring of 1946, life in Sweetwater Crossing is almost back to normal after the war. Not Anna Finley’s. She lost her chance at happily-ever-after when the man she loved was killed in France. Anna does her best to hide her sorrow and a secret that haunts her as she works on the jukeboxes she inherited when her brother died in combat. There’s no point in dreaming about what might have been. Jim Smythe is also grieving a shattered life. His fiancee broke their engagement, reminding him that a respected magazine said it should take no more than three weeks for a veteran to forget the war. But Jim cannot forget the men in his platoon who didn’t return home, and he’s made it his mission to visit each of the fallen soldiers’ families, hoping to give them some small measure of comfort. Sweetwater Crossing is his final stop. After that, he’ll have to return to Boston and the life that holds no appeal. If only he could find an alternative, one where people saw him for himself, not his family’s name. He’s given up hope that anyone will understand what his parents and fiancee did not, but everything changes when he enters a small cafe and sees a woman whose eyes reflect his own pain standing next to a jukebox. Jim knows he’ll never see her again, yet it somehow feels right to extend his hand and say, “May I have this dance?” It’s a once-in-a-lifetime moment for two wounded people unless they can overcome their fears and find the courage to love again.
