It's release day for Rachel Fordham's latest novel A Lady in Attendance. Don't miss this tale of an endearing dentist and his assistant. via @chautonahavig

A master of creating relatable situations and characters you feel as if you’d know if you met them on the street, Rachel Fordham began writing at the advice of her husband for a “creative outlet” and hasn’t stopped since!

Her latest release, A Lady in Attendance, releases today and you won’t want to miss the story of a dentist you won’t dread seeing and his assistant with a sketchy past she’s trying to keep a secret.

This Author Gives Us Excellent Historical Fiction One Book after the Other

I had a delightful chat with Rachel Fordham about her books–especially her latest release A Lady in Attendance. We discussed her favorite part of writing and especially how authors’ books reflect what the Lord is doing in our lives at the time we write them.

Since that conversation, I’ve examined several of my books, trying to see what He is doing in my life, and it’s illuminating. No one but me could usually pinpoint it–things aren’t that direct.

From seeing people in the past as fellow humans and realizing how similar our lives really are to theirs at the core, to understanding life through those similarities, Rachel’s books cut to the core of humanity and show the beauty of what God can do with those characters.

You can find out more about Rachel on her website.

Rachel Fordham a lady in attendanceAbout A Lady in Attendance

Five years in a New York state reformatory have left a blemish on Hazel’s real name. So when she takes a job as Doctor Gilbert Watts’s lady in attendance in 1898, she does so under an alias. In the presence of her quiet and pious employer, Hazel finds more than an income. She finds a friend and a hope that if she can set her tarnished past in order, she might have a future after all.

As Gilbert becomes accustomed to the pleasant chatter of his new dental assistant, he can’t help but sense something secretive about her. Perhaps there is more to this woman than meets the eye. Can the questions that loom between them ever be answered? Or will the deeds of days gone by forever rob the future of its possibilities?

Rachel Fordham pens a tender tale of a soft-spoken man, a hardened woman, and the friends that stand by them as they work toward a common purpose–to expunge the record of someone society deemed beyond saving–and perhaps find love along the way.

Episode 595: A Chat with Jeremiah Friedli
byChautona Havig

Have you ever had to choose between saving one life or twenty? Fifty? Listen in as Jeremiah Friedli and I chat about his Core Decipher and whether his character Seth should save one life at a time or if he risks his life to save many.

This Core series is so timely–with the way surveillance becomes more intrusive every day, ummmm. Yeah.

Core Decipher by Jeremiah Friedli

One hacker. One impossible mission. Zero margin for error.

Seth Alvarez has the ultimate power in a surveillance state: cyber invisibility. Using stolen tech that makes him a ghost to the all-seeing CORE system, he’s the resistance’s most valuable protector. But when CORE prepares a deadly upgrade that will crush all hope of freedom, Seth must make an impossible choice: stay hidden and keep saving lives one at a time, or risk everything by going undercover inside CORE’s fortress for a chance to liberate thousands. Allying with a former enemy, Seth must pull off the most dangerous hack in history—one that will either liberate an entire nation or destroy everyone he loves.

Learn more about Jeremiah on his WEBSITE and follow him on GoodReads.
