I think it’s underrated in today’s society. We’re more of a tit for tat culture these days. “Anything you can do to me, I can do worse to you” seems to be the rule of the day. I wonder, whatever happened to kindness?
Your waitress is snooty. Would it hurt you to smile and leave a good tip? Ever hear the phrase, “Kill ’em with kindness?” Why not try it?
A car pulls out in front of you, honks at you as if you made the error, and then flips you off. Two miles down the road, they’re pulled to the side, hood up, radiator steaming. Do you pull over and offer help? Make sure their cell phone works or that they have one? (Yes, there are some of us who do not carry cell phones everywhere we go–or anywhere for that matter.)
Open a door, smile at the cashier, wave at the neighbor, surprise your child, spoil your spouse. Be kind. Send a card, buy a flower for for an elderly woman at the store.
Be kind.

Kind hearts are the gardens.
Kind thoughts are the roots.
Kind words are the flowers.
Kind deeds are the fruits.
Take care of your garden,
And keep out the weeds.
