Using story to connect YOU to the Master Storyteller

A-mbitious

by Chautona Havig · 9 Comments

What is it?  It’s a word that means something like “totally crazy chick who is always doing extreme things like this A-Z blog challenge thing.”

I’ve always been a bit inclined to be overly ambitious.  In school, I’d get a new PACE (workbook like thing that was 1/12 my year’s work in a subject) and I’d decide to get it done over the weekend even though it had forty-three pages.  Yeah.  And I’d do it too.  Just because I could.

When a friend pointed out NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) to me, I was intrigued.  Could I write fifty thousand (50,000 words!!!) in thirty days?  It seemed impossible.  Then I did the math.  1,667 words per day.  I did that most days–just not on one book.  I tend to be ADD with my writing as my friends can well attest.

“Ok, so you know how Chessie got in that car accident?”
“Wait, I thought we were talking about Alexa?”
“We were; now we’re talking about Chessie.  I just had a great idea.”

And so it goes.

Well, the other day I found out that there is another contest.  Get this– a novel in three days.  THREE DAYS.  Yes, suddenly I want to move to a hotel room for Labor Day weekend and see if I can do it.  Then again, it looks like they shoot for about 100 pages.  That’s pretty simple stuff, really, but still. Why not?

So, when I saw A-Z of blogging, well… I had to do it.  I know, what’s so ambitious about writing a couple hundred words 30 times in a row on a blog?  Right?  Um, I’ll tell you.  I’m doing it over at Paradoxology too.  That’s what is ambitious for me.  TWO?  Am I nuts?  Yep.  Yes I am.

So, I hope you’ll come around this month.  I may even have a few giveaways to keep things interesting!  So, stop in, say howdy, you never know when that howdy will get you a book, or a gift card, or just a “thanks a lot for stopping by.”

Episode 476: A Chat with Katie M. Reid
byChautona Havig

Christmas is beautiful any time of year–whether it’s in autumn to prepare you for the upcoming season, in winter while you’re in active holiday mode, prolonging the joy into spring, or having fun with Christmas in July (when we often need the illusion of cool!) Listen in to see what’s up in Bavarian Falls this summer!

I had a blast learning about Katie’s planning, choosing the place, the in-person research to get things just right–everything!

A Very Bavarian Summer by Katie M. Reid

Holly Noel Brigham is thrilled about her boyfriend’s upcoming visit to Bavarian Falls. What could go wrong? Navigating a long-distance relationship is no picnic. Work demands, a wildfire, and insecurities threaten Holly’s and Nik’s summer plans and future goals. What was supposed to be a season of carefree dates and tender kisses is complicated by unexpected loss, a surprise visitor, and the pressure of the Christmas in July Festival. In an effort to strengthen their relationship, Holly and Nik decide to ask each other twenty questions… What do you dream about? What makes you cry? What are you second-guessing? What makes you angry? Why do you love me? The questions eerily parallel reality, causing a roller coaster of emotions and a high-elevation argument. Is Holly’s and Nik’s relationship strong enough to endure some twists and turns or is this the end of the road?

Learn more about Katie on her WEBSITE and follow  her on GoodReads and BookBub.
