Can You Guess Why I’m Excited to Check Out This New Series?

N. Ford didn't start out to write a fantasy series, but her debut novel, The Refuge, promises to be a great start! via @chautonahavig

As N Ford and I chatted about her debut novel, The Refuge and its upcoming sequel, I had one of those amazing moments where the more an author talked about her work, the more excited and eager I was for it. Compared by some to a clean,  Christian Game of Thrones-esque political fantasy, to me it sounds like an incredibly relevant and exciting novel for today.  Listen in and see why.

Can You Guess Why I’m Excited to Check Out This New Series?

Songwriter N Ford didn’t set out to write a political fantasy series, but her children’s series on the fruit of the Spirit morphed into something far more than she’d planned, and I for one am glad that she kept going with it. Based on our conversation, I expect the books will explore found families, the strength in diversity, and just where our privilege really comes from–all in a story that doesn’t sound heavy-handed at all.  As it is, I can’t wait to start The Refuge!

Also, those twists!  I don’t know about you, but I am dying to see if I can see them coming!  EEEP!

Her second book is releasing this fall, so stay tuned for preorder information and all that jazz!

The Refuge N. FordThe Refuge by N. Ford

In a world that has ever only known war, generations still swing their swords on whispers of conflict from centuries past.

In Physis, the law of the land is ‘every territory for itself.’ Lineage is everything; racial identification is paramount; and territory loyalty is the code by which one lives or dies. But when a few individuals decide the given system isn’t working, everything begins to change.

What will happen to the world when inherited authority is questioned; when standards of judgment are re-evaluated; and when independent thinkers redefine purpose for a new generation of leaders?

In The Refuge, by N. Ford, readers travel from the snowy mountain estates of The Diamond Isles to the clay arenas of a warrior’s life in Agon. They sail the Physis Sea, chasing mystery and meaning, and swim in the clear pool at the bottom of the Western Bay. Readers will meet love, loss, and sacrifice anew, while discovering what purpose can do when it’s authentic and hard-won.

Episode 594: A Chat with Joy Crain
byChautona Havig

If you love a good royal romance, you won’t want to miss the third Royals of Andelar book, The Promise of a Princess. Listen in as Joy and I chat about this third book (and wait’ll you hear about the second half! EEEP!).

Don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure I’d never want to be royalty. The stuff they go through. That said… I sure do like watching authors torture them on the page. All the drama, none of the real strain.

The Promise of a Princess by Joy Crain

The Royals of Andelar, Book 3

Princess Genevieve’s life seems like a dream. She has a loving family, a devoted fiancé, and a future set in stone. But beneath the perfection lies a secret she has guarded for years, one that could shatter everything if it were ever revealed. When an ancient doctrine resurfaces and threatens the very foundation of the monarchy, Genevieve is forced to face a choice that will cost her more than she ever imagined.
