Why I’m So Excited about These New Love Inspired Trade Books

by Chautona Havig · 1 Comment

Rising Danger by Jerusha Agen is the second of Love Inspired's new trade line--full length novels that go a little deeper for a richer reading experience. via @chautonahavig

Romantic Suspense author, Jerusha Agen is the second author in a new line from Love Inspired.  This new trade line offers full-length novels, and Rising Danger is a doozy!

Whooeee!  Hold onto your hats and grab your life vests, this novel will flood you with action, danger, and an explosion or two!  Add a few cool pooches, and what more can we ask for?  Squee!

Why I’m So Excited about These New Love Inspired Trade Books

When Jerusha Agen told me about this new line of novels from Love Inspired, I got excited.  One of the biggest complaints against the traditional Love Inspired books is how short they are.  So a line of full-length novels is exactly what the readers requested!

One of the most exciting things for me was the realization that if the stories can go deeper into characters and subplots (having more words to work with), then that means it’s possible the faith elements will do so as well!

Even more than that, Jerusha Agen is beginning a six-book series with Rising Danger. The next five books will feature other dogs and their handlers from the company that her character in this book works for.

I think one of the best parts of talking about this new series and this book in particular, however, had to do with the research that went into this book.

Don’t let anyone tell you that authors don’t have to research a ton of stuff.

In this case, it’s tons and tons of water.  What happens to it if the dams don’t do their jobs?  And what do authors do when their research comes up short because that information is protected?  How do they work around it to give accurate information with what little they can find?

Trust me… it’s tough.  And Jerusha Agen didn’t shy away from the hard stuff.

Personally, I’m not quite half done with the book, but I’m LOVING it.  Ms. Agen can write.  From the first line of the book through the last I read, I’ve been riveted and annoyed that other books and interviews keep dragging me away.  Trust me… they have to drag me.

Rising Danger releases May 25, and Jerusha Agen has some super cool bonuses for readers who preorder and fill out a super-short form with their order number.  Her dog, Marshmallow, even got up to a few tricks just for us!  I’ve already preordered my copy for my Mom, and I’m telling you. She’s gonna love it.

About Rising Danger Rising Danger by Jerusha Agenby Jerusha Agen

It’s up to a K-9 handler and her canine partner to stop a bomber before it’s too late.

Someone’s planting explosives on dams in the Twin Cities, and Bristol Bachmann and her bomb-sniffing dog must move quickly to find them before everything ends up underwater. That means relying on the dams’ supervisor—an ex-boyfriend Bristol never thought she’d see again. Hopefully, Remington Jones has grown up from the rakish charmer she knew in her academy days. Because lives now depend entirely on them…

It’s an environmental terrorist who wants the dams gone, and his bid to set the waters free has lethal consequences. When he sees Bristol and her K-9 working to stop him, he sets his sights on them. Can they evade him in a lethal game of cat and mouse and protect the cities from devastating destruction before the clock runs out?

Episode 596: A Chat with Katheen Rouser
byChautona Havig

What is it about orphan stories that grab your heart and hold it fast? Listen in as I chat with Kathleen Rouser about her Wounds and Rescues and the couple who are trying to unite two children with an unknown grandfather–if he’s worthy of them.

Okay, so there might be a bit of a romance in here as well. That’s how it tends to work, and honestly, with all the pain of loss and trying to care for hurting children, you want someone like Rose Sinclair to find love and support. Even someone as romance-averse as I can be can see the need for that support. WOOT!

Wounds and Rescues by Kathleen Rouser

A nurse with a wounded heart. A former lawman haunted by loss. An attraction neither can afford. Rose Sinclair has built a careful new life in Stone Creek, hiding her painful past beneath a high lace collar. When private investigator Caleb Ellis arrives claiming he’s found a grandfather for two orphans she’s grown to love, she’s determined not to trust him—or let him take the children she’s come to cherish. Caleb needs Rose’s cooperation to reunite the children with their family. But as questions begin to surface and shadows from Rose’s past reappear, it becomes clear someone is willing to do whatever it takes to keep the truth buried. Forced to travel west posing as husband and wife, Rose and Caleb must protect the children while outrunning a past determined to destroy them. As danger closes in, Caleb must confront the faith he abandoned, and Rose must decide if she can risk her heart again. Because this time, trusting the wrong person won’t just break them—it could cost them everything. Perfect for fans of Karen Witemeyer and Mary Connealy, this faith-filled historical romance features a forced-proximity journey, blending danger, redemption, and a road that leads two wounded hearts toward love.
