Why and How I Developed Rockland/Fairbury

This is a repost of one from February 13, 2012 for those just beginning the Rockland Chronicles.   Rockland first appeared in Noble Pursuits.  I set Grace in an established neighborhood-- the one she'd grown up in as a child--in the smaller suburb of Brunswick.  Rockland developed as the Continue Reading

Where it All Began…

Once upon a time, a home school mom of nine heard the question, "How do you do it all?" one too many times.  Every time someone asked her the question, she would say, "Well, you get them one at a time.  They all don't show up at once.  You add experience before you add the next kid or stage."  Then Continue Reading

If You Have Won an eBook from Me…

And couldn't get it to open.  I now know why some can and some can't and have fixed the problem.  So, if I've sent you an eBook and it didn't work on your device, please email and tell me what it was.  I'll take care of it.  It might take a few days (I've got to reconvert EVERYTHING) but it'll get Continue Reading

How Characters Influence an Author’s Life

Or:  How Willow Guilted Me into Work On Tuesday, my daughter bought us two of the grocery store rotisserie chickens for dinner.  I remember her hinting strongly that we only needed one.  However, I like to use the leftovers for chicken soup and even on a half-empty house, one won't cut it for two Continue Reading

I’m So Excited to Present:

Six years ago, I had an idea just before the Valley Home Educator's Convention in Modesto, California.  A friend of mine and I went every year (back before she up and moved on me.  Hmph.)  My idea?  Take some of the odd things I'd seen in my lifetime and explore them in a specific setting.  What Continue Reading

So, Who Panicked?

Anyone catch the "oops!"  in Past Forward yesterday?  Well, I know of one person who did... and I predicted that she would ;) Those three little words... not there.  "To Be Continued." Surely, no one thought it was really finished, right?  Not there!  That wouldn't make sense! Sooo no Continue Reading

Switcheroo…

Well, I'm supposed to be 6668 words into Legends of the Vengeance book TWO right now.  I'm not.  Slacker, you say?  HA!  Slacker my eye... er fingers? Less than an hour before Camp NaNoWriMo started, I got the word from Madame Publicist Extraordinaire.  "Write the next Journey of Dreams book.  Continue Reading

Happy Birthday to Me!

So, Wednesday I had this cool idea and decided that I was going to make me a birthday present.  So, I skipped over to my handy, dandy Photoshop and created my idea. Want to see my birthday present?  I got notice last night that it shipped. Isn't it cool?  I can't wait.  I might even Continue Reading

A Chat with Willow…

Every day I get half a dozen emails about Willow asking questions, making observations, and begging for more. For those who have taken the time to encourage me, I really want to thank you! It's so cool to open my email and see, "I want to BE Willow." It assures me that I've accomplished my goal-- Continue Reading

Ahh… Willow the words…

November 4, 2025: Bookish Gratitude is a great cu November 4, 2025:
Bookish Gratitude is a great cup of tea, a snack, and a new book!
I'm drinking Lyon's Gild, recommended by @jenniferdeibel_author , but its in my empty Harney & Sons "Victorian London Fog" tin. That's my second favorite tea. My FAVORITE is "Christmas in Sisters" from @suttle_tea . Just got my order in... been hounding the website since July. Now that mine is reserved, I will sing its praises to the rooftop. With cream and sugar, it tastes like a really good chai without the soupyness some ciffee shop chais have.
Eating Pepperidge Farms Linzer raspberry cookies (recommend 2 not 3... three was almost too much).
Reading A Light at the End of the Woods by @carriebrownellwrites ( not Donwell... duh) and @bookmonkeypress
So far I love it!!!!
