I agree with you in everything you say. The only reason *I* would like to get a book traditionally published is that it lends credibility when you tell people that you write books. This will sound terribly boastful, but according to the reviews by total strangers and the sales figures of some of my books, I am a good writer. However, it would be nice to be able to say, "I write," and when people ask who published the book, to say "Moody Press" (or whatever). I don't think your books being a series is a handicap, actually. If you offered your best novel (because they can all stand alone) and a traditional publisher picked it up, it would be an advantage that there were more books in the pipeline for people who want a sequel/series book. Series books are enormously popular. I think *I* would have a harder time getting published, since I only seem to write a book once every 3 years. Not much chance for getting a long series out of me!

There are a lot of gifts in this world, and if we spend all of our time waiting and wishing expectantly for what lies beyond, we miss the gifts we've been given for the NOW. I'm not saying that what comes next isn't great. I believe it is. But, the things we have now are pretty cool too... why waste it?

Yes, I'm "commenting" on my own blog post. Sue me.

Dear person who first said the whole "walk in shoes" thing. PLEASE never EVER say anything again. I tremble to think what may happen if you do.

Frustrated,

My pet peeves are sayings like "Get 'er done" or "It is what it is". I cringe every time I hear them.

As to the glass being half full or empty. I'm a "half full" kind of girl. It's all about attitude. You can go through life weighed down or you can choose to look to the bright side (and for me, I look to Christ).

Oh...sad ending! Poor old lady. I want to hug her.

I love this -- "Did they know there were people out there who read every single word simply because they knew someone had written them?"

Thanks for the shout out. I love your blog too! Cool.

They only want "real" in TV. I don't think it would work for books. Nice try, though. ;0)

Good luck with all the revision. I'm right there with ya!

I love your blogs, Mrs. Havig! This was a great post too and a good reminder.

I still have my Wednesdays set for book reviews... but that's because I want to limit myself to one book review a week, and not have them completely flooding my blog. Otherwise, this was a good reminder of why I've avoided a "mold" for blogging in the past. :D

My poor husband.... he is going to be miserable while I'm in that. He's not a fan of authentic Mexican food. Thankfully most of the rest of us are!
